Retreats: Schedules: Quiet Weeks
Quiet Weeks
The Quiet Weeks are led by various teachers and are currently held three times a year - in late winter, early summer, and early fall (see Calendar). Quiet Weeks comprise a two-week period and are scheduled between two retreats. When combined with the more formal retreats, Quiet Weeks provide the opportunity for a month-long retreat.
Quiet Weeks combine a schedule of untimed sittings. group dialogue meetings, and the option for private meetings with teachers. Participants will have input into the sitting and meeting schedule. Quiet Weeks offer the possibility to look and question, alone and together, in simplicity and without authority.
The entire schedule is optional. Part-time participants are welcome.
Participants volunteer for an hour each day. During Quiet Weeks, the Center operates as usual with staff working a regular schedule. On work days (Tuesday to Saturday), the noise level may vary. Weekends (Sunday and Monday) are generally quiet. The sitting room and balcony areas are always kept silent.
Quiet Weeks participants will have single rooms, unless they request to stay with another person. Space is limited.
