Don't miss an opportunity to meet with the Teaching Committee this Saturday

Online Teaching Committee Meeting Saturday, November 18

This semi-annual meeting (taking place in accordance with Springwater Center’s by-laws) offers participants the opportunity to ask questions of the Center’s teachers, to hear them dialogue with each other and to dialogue with them and other attendees.
Please note that Springwater NY is no longer on Daylight Savings Time. The schedule is as follows: 
1:30 pm ET -1:55 pm – sitting meditation, followed by a short break.
2:00 pm – approx. 3:15 pm – The teachers will dialogue about questions that have been sent to them, followed by a break.
3:30 pm – 4:30 pm – Group dialogue. 
Please send your questions for the teachers to info@springwatercenter.org, subject “My question for Teachers Meeting Nov. 18.” They may not be able to go into all questions asked, but will choose those they feel most relevant.

Remembering Susan Schepp

Springwater Center will hold a gathering to honor Susan Schepp on the afternoon of Sunday, April 28, 2024. In her talks Susan often metioned her enjoyment of walking the Center’s land. One of the trails will be named for her, and a tree will be planted in her memory. As the plan for the gathering is finalized, more details will appear in the news update and be posted on Susan’s teacher page of the Center’s website. Susan’s obituary may also be found on her teacher page.
This Sunday, November 19, Susan’s family invites her friends to join them to remember her from 2 pm – 5 pm at the St. Paul Firemen’s Exempt Club,690 Thomas Avenue, Rochester, NY

Upcoming events are fully booked – please see next year’s calendar

By the time you receive this news update, both the December 2 All-Day Sitting and the Dec. 29, 2023 – Jan. 2, 2024 retreat with Wayne Coger are likely to be fully booked. Please contact reception at info@springwatercenter.org to be added to the wait list for either event. The next All-Day Sitting will be Saturday, January 20, 2024.

December Closing

The Center will close at the end of the day on Thursday, December 14, so that staff may take a break. It will reopen the morning of Tuesday, December 26.

2024 Calendar includes a new type of retreat

There’s so much offered in the Center’s 2024 Calendar, both in-person and online. See the Calendar for retreats, Quiet Weeks, All-Day Sittings, Open Meditative Dialogues, Meetings with the Teaching Committee, Saturday programs, and more. 
For the first time, there will be an Online Collaborative Retreat, where teachers may be present, but the participants will sign up to give talks. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore what it is to give a talk and share what is coming up for you in the company of participants who are also engaged in meditative work.
Please note that some 2024 event/guest fees may increase in mid-December this year but if you apply and pay before then for a 2024 event/guest stay, you will receive the current rate. 

Staff Positions Open

The Center is seeking to fill positions in the financial office, housekeeping and repair and maintenance. Staff receive room, food, an opportunity to attend retreats, a modest stipend and some health insurance reimbursement. Please contact Susan Esons at  info@springwatercenter.org for information about current staff openings.
