January 6 Saturday Program

In a short talk from the January 1996 retreat (Day 7), Center founder Toni Packer asks, “Why the anger?” and then explores the question in depth.
She urges us all to be curious and interested, wondering if it is possible to look in the moment as anger is happening. She questions the why of the anger, asking where does this “anger” come from?

Saturday, January 27 New Online: Open Meditative Dialogue
|
|
|
Everyone is invited to bring a theme, issue, or question to explore together with multiple Springwater teachers and others interested in Meditative Inquiry.
This newly forming group will meet (almost) one Saturday a month for 2024, from 1:30 – 3:20 pm ET. A 25 minute sitting will begin each event and a 1 hour and 15 minute dialogue will follow.
In their essence, dialogues are an opportunity to explore and to discover, alone and together, what is here, alive for us moment-to-moment. We may explore what it is to Simply Listen as we talk. We may also discover judgments, agendas, expectations, agreements and disagreements that may be getting in the way of just simple listening with each other and oneself openly. This listening is all inclusive, embracing everything that is happening, not accepting or rejecting but questioning oneself and one’s predicament. This can help us to use language more skillfully, to unite instead of dividing by reinforcing the conditioned self.
This is a donation-based event. Please join as your schedule permits, using the following Zoom link/login information: Direct Link

(Sitting and Dialogue Groups Outside of Springwater) Beginning January 10th: A New Weekly Group
|
|
|
Kirk Warren Brown is on the faculty in the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, where he teaches and conducts research on the impacts of meditation on people’s lives. He has been retreating and working with teachers at Springwater Center since 1999 and has facilitated meditation groups in the spirit of the Center’s work since 2005.
In this new online group Kirk invites meeting with each other in silent meditation and in group dialogue to bring presence into our lives in meaningful, enlivening ways.
Beginning January 10, 2024, the group will meet weekly, Wednesdays, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Eastern US time, with 25 minutes of meditation followed by an hour of dialogue.
Presence, or awareness is not a skill to be learned but an inherent capacity we all share, however veiled it may seem. Thus, all are welcome.
Enter the Zoom room here.
The room will open every Wednesday at 6:45 pm.
To connect with other sitting and dialogue groups outside of Springwater, visit the Center website.
If information listed on the website needs updating, or if you would like to request a group be added, please email info@springwatercenter.org, ATTN: Update/Addition to Community Webpage. Outside groups are not endorsed or sponsored by Springwater Center.
